Similkameen Septic Service Ltd. is hiring!

Part time work pumping + cleaning portable toilets at sites in and around Princeton. 2-4 days/week in summer, 2 days/week in winter. Flexible days/hours to fit your schedule.

Valid Class 5 license and Driver's Abstract required. Class 3 license an asset but not required. $30/hour starting wage. On the job “ride-along” training provided for 3-4 weeks. Training period is paid at full rate. Wage is paid via direct deposit if possible; 2 week pay periods. Vacation pay is calculated and included on each paycheque, and overtime is paid.

Job duties:
-driving F550 truck 2 days per week in the winter, 3-5 days/week in the summer
-operating pumps + hoses to suck effluent from portable toilets and grease traps in restaurants
-spraying + cleaning insides of portable toilets, carrying 20-litre pails of water to re-fill portable toilets
-replacing hand sanitizer + toilet paper; collecting garbage
-delivering + Picking up portable toilets: using a hand truck to move + lift potties
-operating ratchet straps to load + secure portable toilets
-driving safely on steep inclines, muddy roads, snowy conditions (including at Copper Mountain Mine)
-putting together new portable toilets
-working some weekends will be available in the summer if the applicant is interested
-we also own the Bridge Street Car Wash: if applicant is interested, they can also do the daily cleaning here

Applicant must:
-show care in their work, making portable toilets comfortable to use
-drive safely + be able to back up a small trailer
-communicate clearly with customers and co-workers
-be comfortable using apps (we use google calendar and the app “clockify”)
-be physically strong enough to lift/move a portable toilet
-be comfortable operating hand tools + suction pumps/motors
-follow the guidelines as required for each job site (wearing appropriate PPE and/or doing trainings and quizzes for certain contractors)
-communicate with owners when we are running low on supplies (toilet paper, sanitizer)
-understand that jobs + schedules can change quickly; we often have additional jobs requested with only 1-3 days of notice
-be trustworthy, respectful and “carefully bold” (not nervous + not careless!)

-problem solve together for things that come up (flat tires, pumps not working, frozen equipment etc)
